Firmware Upgrade

Project Upload/ Download by Starter/ Simotion Scout/BOP

The following commissioning tools support the commissioning wizard:

• STARTER
• Start drive from V13 SP1
• IOP from V1.6 and higher BOP2
• If a project is already stored on the CF card, use STARTER to upload it to the PC/PG and make a backup copy if necessary.

Upload/Download Procedure with STARTER

Inverter → PC/PG

• To back up the settings with STARTER, proceed as follows:
• Go online:
•  Click the "load project to PG/PC" button:   or Target Device>> load project to PG/PC button
• Wait until STARTER reports that data backup has been completed.
• Save the project:
• Go offline:   
• Click Project >>Archive Button.

PC/PG → Inverter

Normally this option use when you have changes settings offline or you have old project.
To load the settings from the PG to the inverter with STARTER, proceed as follows:

• Go online:
•  Click the "Download project to target system" button:
•  Wait until STARTER reports that loading has been completed.
•  To save the data to the ROM memory of the inverter, select the "Copy RAM to ROM" button:
• Go offline:

Upload/Download Procedure with BOP2

You can transfer the inverter settings to the Operator Panel BOP-2 or vice versa, the data from the BOP2 to the inverter.

Inverter → BOP-2

To back up the settings on the BOP-2, proceed as follows:

• Go to the menu level “OPTIONS”.
• In the “OPTIONS” menu, select “TO BOP”.
• Start data transfer with OK.
• Wait until the inverter has backed up the settings to the BOP-2.

BOP-2 → Inverter

To transfer the settings to the inverter, proceed as follows:  

• Go to the menu level “OPTIONS”.
• In the "OPTIONS" menu, select "FROM BOP".
• Start data transfer with OK.
• Wait until the inverter has written the settings to the memory card.

Sinamics CU3xx to CU3xx-2DP / CU3xx-2PN

• Control unit CU310 possible to upgrade with CU310-2DP/PN.
• Control unit CU320 possible to upgrade with CU320-2DP/PN.
• Details given below, only for example, you need to check control unit type, here is CU310 to CU310-2DP.

Upgrade old firmware to new firmware

If the firmware has a new device version you must also select the relevant drive unit in the STARTER project tree and then select the required device version by clicking on menu options Target device >> Device version with the right mouse button:

·   Connect the power supply to the Control Unit (including the 24 V DC supply)

· ESTABLISH THE NETWORK CONNECTION (HARDWARE)

CONFIGURE THE NETWORK CONNECTION(SOFTWARE)

• Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections >>
• Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the properties box
• Click on the Properties button
• Make a note of the existing settings so that you can restore them later!
• Select the settings as they are shown in Fig. shown and confirm by clicking on the OK button:

Download to New Drive

Go to Drive Unit >>Right Click >>connect target Device>>Download drive unit to target device, check copy ram to ROM box when downloading to save data in ROM memory.

Changing New Control Unit CU2xxBE-2PN, CU3xx-2PN

New Control unit will have IP name and address factory setting value. You need to change the IP address and Profinet name.

• Call the menu "Project > Accessible nodes" or click the "Accessible nodes" icon .
• The search is performed for available nodes connected to PROFINET
• The Control Unit is identified and displayed under "Accessible nodes" as the bus node with the IP address 0.0.0.0, without any type information.

• Right-click the bus node entry to open the shortcut menu "Edit Ethernet node.
• In the selection window that opens "Edit Ethernet node" you will also see the MAC address.
• Under "Set IP configuration", enter the IP address that you selected (e.g. 169.254.11.33) and the subnet mask (e.g. 255.255.0.0).
• Click the "Set IP configuration" button.
• It will give status the data transfer is confirmed.
• In the "Edit Ethernet node" selection window you can also assign a device name to the drive unit that has been detected.
• In the "Device name" field, enter the name that you have selected.
• Click the "Assign name" button.
• It will give status the data transfer is confirmed.
• Click the "Update" button

·         The bus node is detected as drive unit with type and Firmware version.

·         The address, device name and the type are specified.

Download to New Drive /CU with PN interface

Go to Drive Unit >>Right Click >>connect target Device>>Download drive unit to target device, check copy ram to ROM box when downloading to save data in ROM memory.

Changing New Control Unit CU2xxBE-2DP, CU3xx-2DP

Given below image shows, connecting the programming device to the target device via PROFIBUS.

Making the STARTER settings for PROFIBUS

• Call the menu "Tools > Set PG/PC interface ..." and click on the "Properties" button.
• Activate or deactivate the option "PG/PC is the only master on the bus".

PROFIBUS setting

Baud rate and Profibus address:

• Change baud rate as per setting in PLC or need to use.
• STARTER commissioning tool automatically detects the baud rate used by SINAMICS for PROFIBUS
• The PROFIBUS addresses for the individual drive units must be specified in the project and must match the address settings on the devices.

Download to New Drive /CU with DP interface

• Go to Drive Unit >>Right Click >>connect target Device>>Download drive unit to target device,
• check copy ram to ROM box when downloading to save data in ROM memory.
